MINUTES
April 3, 2012
The April meeting of the Hill ‘n Hollow Master Gardeners was held at 6:30 pm at the
Fausett Greenhouse in Neosho. The meeting was called to order at 6:33 PM by
President Gordon Spencer. There were 29 members and one guest present.
SPEAKER: This month’s speaker was Gary Fausett, whose parents opened the Fausett
Greenhouse and who now oversees its operations. Gary gave an informative
presentation about container gardening and also shared tips for growing tomatoes. He
showed the Master Gardeners several unique varieties of annuals and a few perennials
that the Fausett Greenhouse is selling this growing season. After his presentation,
club members toured the facilities and several purchased plants to take home.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: March minutes were e-mailed to members and posted on the
website. Several members were not able to open the original files that were sent and
the secretary agreed to re-send copies of the minutes and newsletter through Karen
Gardener the next day. A motion was M/S/C to approve the March minutes.
TREASURER’S REPORT: The bank balance as of April 3, 2012 was $2,755.60, excluding
outstanding receipts. A motion was M/S/C to accept the report.
OLD BUSINESS
None.
NEW BUSINESS
TABLECLOTHS: Beth Person offered to explore the purchase of a Master Gardener
tablecloth to use for booths and displays.
POSTER: A motion was M/S/C to purchase Gardening Q & A posters through the
Extension Office.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
NEOSHO FISH HATCHERY OPEN HOUSE: An Open House is scheduled for April 15 from
9am–2pm at the Neosho Fish Hatchery.
RAIN GARDEN: Gwen Schroeder showed the club new signs she ordered for labeling
the plants in the Newton Country Extension Office Rain Garden. She also mentioned
the need to schedule a work day there in the near future.
NEXT MEETING: May 8, 2012 at the Extension Center in Neosho
A motion was M/S/C to adjourn the meeting at 8:10 pm.
