Minutes of Master Gardener meeting on Oct. 6, 2015

 

Meeting was called to order by President Mike Snow at 6:35 PM.  There were 19 members and 1 guest in attendance.  The guest, Micki Schach, and Delores Jennings entertained us by playing the accordion and guitar with some singing.

 

SECRETARY’S REPORT:  Sept. minutes were made available to members via e-mail. Motion was made to approve by Anne Corkle, Jackie Hoyez seconded, and the motion was approved unanimously. 

 

TREASURERS REPORT: Beth Persons reported the beginning Balance was $3656.15 with four expenses - $63.38 for BBQ, $13.94 for Fish Hatchery, $75.02 for Anderson Floral, $475.00 for survey costs.  The ending balance as of Oct. 6th, 2015 is $3028.81.   Motion was made to approve by Jackie Hoyez, seconded by Ron Hoyez and was passed unanimously.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  None

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

-  John Hobbs will reserve the room with Crowder College for our December meeting/dinner.  He will also work with the new officer selection committee for next year's officers.

-  Ron Hoyez reported on the Extension Office demonstration gardens.  He passed out a map showing what he had come up with, but encouraged everyone to submit their ideas as well.  He hopes to get the first of the raised beds in before Spring planting, so asked tht he get all ideas BEFORE the next meeting.  All suggestions can either be e-mailed to Ron at rnjhoyez@yahoo.com or call him at 417-592-6187.  Anne Corkle suggested the Demo Garden committee take all suggestions and come up with two workable ones and bring them to the next meeting for a final vote.  Ron also handed out map created by Jutta McComick.

-  John Hobbs reported on Extension Council's annual program review.  This is a four year process which covers the local area all the way to the State's programs.

-  Sherry McBride announced she has tickets available for the 17th Annual Farm and Family Celebration coming up on Oct. 17th.  Tickets are $10.00 and event it starts at 6 p.m. at the Neosho High School.  Crowder's Ag Dept. will be catering the event.  If interested, call Sherry at 417-592-3357 or 479-271-1440.

A motion to adjourn was made by Ron Hoyez, Gorden Spencer seconded, and it was carried by unanimous vote.  Our next Meeting is November 3rd with Jutta McCormack and Sandy Blakeley being signed up for refreshments.
